1st XI On The Brink Of Perfect Season

Market Drayton go into the last game of the season, 12pm April 6th at Keele University, against Bloxwich knowing that a win in their final league game will ensure "invincibility" is gained with regards to their West Midlands One campaign.

 The side, led by Manager Nick Reed and Captain James Joule have notched up nineteen wins this season, scoring 102 goals along the way.

Drayton Nicely Placed Ahead of North Shropshire Derby

This weekend sees Market Drayton and Whitchurch contest The North Shropshire Derby for the first time in three seasons.

Whitchurch, newly promoted to West Midlands Division One, will visit Keele University to play Drayton in a fixture that, down the years, has produced a lot of colour in some keenly fought games.

Such is the geographical distance between the towns a rivalry has always been evident; and thanks to a similar ability down the years – the contests have always been both a fight...

Market Drayton Advertiser: Ladies 1st XI v Wem Match Preview

Market Drayton Ladies this weekend welcome Wem to their Whitchurch home and club spokesperson Liz Booker is looking forward to the match: “Our matches with Wem are usually very competitive, close games.”

“They are always great to play in; we often take the lead but struggle to hold onto it.”

Market Drayton’s squad this year is much younger and Liz says this is a plus.

Market Drayton Advertiser: First XI Face Challenging Start to the Season.

With promotion in the minds of every Market Drayton player this season, the prospect of the three relegated teams from the West Midlands Premier in the first three fixtures will provide food for thought for the town's hockey players as they begin their campaign this Saturday.

Joule's men face the long trip down to Evesham in Worcestershire for their first away fixture and will be looking to hit the ground running, a necessity given the pedigree of the players and club they will come up agains...
